When Frustration Is Trying to Tell You Something

By Dylan Ayaloo

There's a particular kind of frustration that feels the worst.. the kind with no clean explanation.

Nothing dramatic has happened. No single person or situation you can point at. Just this low hum of impatience, a tightness in the chest, a shorter fuse than usual. And then, because you can't explain it, you start to wonder if something's wrong with you.

Someone brought this exact feeling into satsang recently. "Why am I feeling so frustrated and impatient lately.. and how do I meet it without suppressing it or acting it out?" It's such an honest question. And I suspect more people are sitting with it than would ever say it out loud.

Here's what I shared: frustration and anger aren't personal failures. They're not signs that you've fallen off the path or that your practice isn't working. They're energy.. and energy needs to move. When it can't, it either turns inward (suppression, shutdown, that flat, numbed-out feeling) or it spills outward onto the people nearest to you.

Neither of those is the answer. But there's a third option, and it's simpler than most people expect.

The body already knows what to do with this energy. The question is whether we give it permission. In satsang we talked about meeting anger in the body.. through movement, breath, and in meditation, zooming right into the centre of the feeling itself rather than trying to analyse your way out of it. Because you can't think your way through a feeling. You have to feel your way through it.

And in that willingness to actually be with the feeling rather than manage it, something opens up. A gap appears between the stimulus and your response. That gap is where choice lives.

This satsang goes into all of it.. the unmet needs underneath anger, exhaustion as a hidden driver of frustration, and the practice of letting it move.

Watch the full satsang above.

If you'd like to sit with these questions live, I hold a free satsang every Friday inside the Elevate Community.. come join us if you'd like to be in the room. And if you want to start going deeper into your own inner work, the free 7-Day Inner Work Challenge is a good place to begin.

Big love, Dylan
